From Brazil to COgITOR: Adriana Nunes’ Research Journey

Adriana Nunes moved from Brazil to Italy to join the Italian Institute of Technology, where she works on self-healing materials for robotics – an emerging field at the intersection of materials science and intelligent systems.

Joining the COgITOR project marked a decisive and challenging step in her career. Within the project, Adriana has contributed to exploring how adaptive and responsive materials can open new perspectives for unconventional computation, pushing beyond traditional, rigid hardware paradigms.

Her journey reflects the international and interdisciplinary spirit of COgITOR: bringing together researchers from different backgrounds to rethink how materials themselves can become active elements in computing systems.

Watch the video to hear Adriana share her experience and what COgITOR has meant for her scientific path.
